Nicola loves to teach Pilates to anyone who is interested in using its techniques for strengthening and/or stretching, and for whatever reason, whether it is as part of a rehab program or an aid to training, a means of managing back pain or postnatal issues, or simply as part of a regular regime.
Nicola is an ex-physiotherapist who trained to teach Pilates with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) in London. In her days as a physio she worked in NHS musculoskeletal outpatient departments in Bristol, Hampshire and Gloucestershire, with particular focus on rheumatological, orthopaedic, and pre- and post-natal work. With that background she now really enjoys helping people discover the varied benefits of using Pilates.
The APPI method is used widely in physiotherapy practice as it enables the various movements of the traditional Pilates repertoire to be adapted and used safely and effectively by anyone. Pilates is much feted as an effective approach to strengthening and generally enabling efficient movement with improved posture, but not all the movements suit everyone. With the matwork and reformer repertoire to draw on, Nicola can help you find what works for you and tailor a program for you to take forwards.
