Prostate Cancer Care
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed male cancer, with a higher prevalence in men than breast cancer in women. The prostate gland is a walnut-sized gland located at the base of the bladder.
Radical prostatectomy (complete surgical removal of the gland) is a successful treatment for eradicating cancer but can lead to long-term issues with urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction.
Our Treatment Approach
We develop tailored progressive strength programs focusing on the three key functions of the pelvic floor:
  1. Strength – developed via a progressive, guided strengthening program
  2. Endurance – targets postural control and the ability to contract for long periods
  3. Power – the ability to produce a strong contraction quickly
Managing Incontinence Issues
We treat various forms of incontinence, including stress, urge incontinence, and frequency of urination. Our treatment focuses on:
  • Assessing and optimizing pelvic floor muscle function
  • Bladder retraining using physical, mental, and cognitive behavioral strategies
  • Techniques to defer the urge to urinate and restore normal urinary function
  • Managing post micturition dribble (PMD) through specific pelvic floor training and practical strategies
