One of the most common injuries we see in clinic, Plantar Fasciitis, can be extremely painful and difficult to treat. We have put together a Plantar Fasciitis ‘package’ that is tailor-made to each individual to get them back to full fitness.

WHAT IS IT?

Plantar Fasciitis is, in simple terms, an irritation of the band of tissue that stretches along the bottom of the foot. Most commonly felt near the heel, it is generally more painful in the morning and at the beginning of walking and running.

How can you treat it?

Here are our top tips for treating at home…

  1. No barefoot walking
  2. Stretch calf muscles as much as possible
  3. Stretch the Plantar Fascia as much as possible
  4. Toe raised calf raises
  5. Towel grabbing with the foot
  6. Roll tennis / golf ball on sole of foot

Please note, these are just guidelines and you should always check with a health professional first.

WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOU IN CLINIC?

Finding the cause is the key! We make it our mission to find the cause and solve it. This will involve a structured home exercise programme to help achieve this.

Of course, everyone is different and therefore every treatment is different, but our treatments can involve:

  • Soft Tissue Massage to the calf muscles
  • Soft Tissue Massage to the Plantar Fascia
  • Deep Transverse Friction to the Plantar Fascia
  • Shockwave Therapy

WHAT IS SHOCKWAVE THERAPY?

Often, Plantar Fasciitis is caused by the tissue becoming ‘stuck’ in the middle stage of healing and therefore not healing properly. Shockwave helps to ‘reset’ this phase and in combination with appropriate rehabilitation, rebuilds the tissues to help them become stronger and pain-free.
